Trail

Hiking from Chain Bridge to Key Bridge, 18 August, 2012; 8 miles: 18 Aug, 2012 (8 miles)

What a lovely late summer day. It was around 6:30 in the morning and we decided to head out for a nice hike. Instead of driving too far I thought we would go down to the Chain Bridge and hike on the Virginia side of the Potomac as Leila had not see this trail before. So we headed out South on what is the Heritage trail. This part of the Heritage trail, I believe, is called the Windy trail. Lovely to see the Potomac from that height. The mist hovering over the water just stood there playfully. We went to the Roosevelt Island and crossed the GW over the bridge, crossed the Key Bridge into DC and then took the CNO canal North back to Chain Bridge. The temperature was in the upper 60s when we left and it warmed up to the upper 70s by the time we got back. A nice morning to spend along the Potomac.
