Trail

We drove to Mt. Vernon, parked in a parking lot 1 mile from the George Washington house, hiked up to the house back and further north a few miles up to mile marker 4. We had a rare encounter with a ground hog and a bald eagle who had emerged briefly from her nest. It was a wonderful treat. Actually 3 lovely women told us about the bald eagle, for otherwise, we would not have looke d out for the eagle. A wonderful treat indeed. The ground hog was amazing. Just a few feet from us. Leila spotted him. Then there were many blue birds and woodpeckers. Slide show
